Training

It is important for you to consider what you would like to get out of your training in Martial Arts and choose an organisation which best suits those aims:

"Today it seems most organisations try to be all things to all people, and there is a growing sense of dissatisfaction among people and that element of 'always wanting more."

At WJJF, we place great importance on old traditional values and are content in the knowledge that the system we teach is second to none.

Rather than the old adage “Jack of all trades—master of none” we prefer to focus on developing one set of skills extraordinarily well and bringing our students to the level of being Master of ONE.’

You will learn in a safe and encouraging atmosphere many techniques for throwing, punching, blocking, kicking and of course falling safely. All our instructors (Sensei) are friendly and enthusiastic and always ready to encourage you to perform to your best. You will practise with other students, who are always ready to help and new techniques are only introduced as you develop your skills.

WJJF Ju-Jitsu is a comprehensive system. A syllabus is available on this site. You will start with mat etiquette and how to fall safely through various throws, blocks, kicks, hold-downs and locks. Whilst undoubtedly effective, all are taught safely. Technique is emphasised always. Ju-Jitsu improves your fitness both physically and mentally. You will do some weapon work as you advance through the Ju-Jitsu syllabus; Kobudo provides an avenue for those that want to explore this aspect of our art. I'm sure you will enjoy either or both.

There's no need to buy a Ju-Jitsu suit (gi) for your first lessons, some loose fitting sports clothes such as shorts and t-shirt or a tracksuit will be ideal. As we work on special mats in the Dojo (training hall) you wont wear any footwear at all. Ju-Jitsu, like everything in life, gets easier with practice. Regardless of your fitness level, you will be pushed to your limits, but not beyond them.

In this site you will see a little of what we do, how we do it and when. WJJF Ju-Jitsu really is suitable for everyone, regardless of your age and physical ability. Come along and try it out for yourself! Please take some time to browse around the site and look at the photo album for a taste of what goes on in our clubs.
