FiMA - Females in Martial Arts

The FiMA coaches, Sensei Jayne Cooke & Sensei Alison McNeilly, are working in co-operation with the Women's Information Network in Belfast to publicise FiMA and organise Self Defence courses in various parts of the community with a view to recruiting more female members into our Clubs. Potentially we are looking at helping to host one of the monthly Information Days organised by this group, with a view to targeting a wider catchment area of Belfast.

Our priority however remains with developing and improving the young women we already have as members and therefore we are planning a FiMA launch course whereby all females of age 12 and up will participate on the Pilot of our specialised Training courses and be registered as a FiMA member. [Younger members - watch this space for events designed for you.]

We are currently requesting that each club nominate a FiMA rep whose role will be to assist with the induction of any new female students, putting them at ease and informing them of what's available for them within WJJF. Ultimately we wish to have more mentors for females within the association who can inspire them to attain greater levels of success in Martial Arts and hopefully progress to the level of Senior Coach to redress the balance.
